This gets rave reviews from my friends. Be sure to make plenty.
This is absolutely delicious. I changed the ratio of chex, nuts, and prezels (more chex and nuts, many fewer pretzels) because that's my preference. But the magic of this recipe and true flavor comes from the butter, spices, and maple syrup and that's what makes this recipe so delicious. Great job! I made 4X the recipe for a large crowd. Good thing because I keep sneaking tastes before tomorrow's event.
Fabulous. I am so glad I made a double batch.
The only problem with this recipe is that it isn't enough! Made it according to the recipe, except didn't have blanched almonds. I used regular whole almonds and can't imagine how it could be any better. The fresh thyme is a very nice touch, especially when the thyme hits the hot mix and sends up its beautiful fragrance. I used the smaller amount of red pepper and it was just enough kick for me. There is a lot of sweetness to offset the hotness. will definitely make this again.
Delicious! Before starting the recipe, I wondered if it would be too sweet, but the salt and spices balanced it out. Salted pretzels worked fine. Easy & tasty.
LOVE this YUMMY recipe and it lends itself to re-invention. I have used fish pretzels (perfect size) and Bran Chex (more nutritious). Cashews are also yummy. Always double - goes so fast! You can really change up content volume to taste, e.g. more pretzels, more nuts. Have added dried fruit (cranberries, cherries) after baking. Have sent this recipe to everyone who tastes it - very popular!!
I brought this to a Super Bowl party and an office party. Big success At both events. I use 1 teaspoon dried thyme in place of the fresh thyme.
This is a great snack mix - the flavor combination is great! I didn't use the thyme, used 2 cups pretzels & 2 cups cereal (cinnamon flavored Quaker Oat Squares) along with walnuts (what I had in pantry). Will definitely make again. Very yummy!
This is a great recipe and a nice alternative to the standard chex mix. I used dried thyme (half the amount of fresh) and whole unblanched almonds. This is a new favorite recipe and very easy to scale up for large batches.
This is something that belongs in the "make often" category! I used 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne, too, and it was just right. I blanched the almonds myself because I couldn't find whole blanched almonds. That only took a few minutes, and directions are easy to find on the Internet.
I made 3 batches of this last night and had to put it in the back of the closet so I wouldn't eat it all. I plan on giving it all as gifts if it makes it that far. I think the only change i might make next time is to use 2 cups of pretzels and 2 cups of rice chex. BUT THE TASTE IS FABULOUS!
Just made this and it is delicious! Trying to keep from eating it all before it cools! I used 1/4 tsp of red pepper and it has a bit of kick, but not so hot to make it uncomfortable to eat. My 9 year old liked it too.
