Dunkin' And Baskin-Robbins Joined Forces to Create Munchkins Milkshakes
If you’ve been to enough Dunkin’ locations in your lifetime, you’re probably aware that the New England-based doughnut and coffee chain can sometimes share a storefront with ice cream purveyor Baskin Robbins. However, the fact that Dunkin’ does the bulk of its business at breakfast, a time of day that isn’t exactly compatible with eating ice cream, means there aren’t many natural opportunities for cross-brand collaboration.
Until now, that is. Just in time for fall, Dunkin’ and Baskin Robbins have teamed up for what they’re calling a MunchkinsMilkshake, which fuses Baskin Robbins ice cream and Dunkin’ Munchkins. It sounds so obvious and so delicious that you have to wonder why this sort of team-up hasn’t happened already.
Fittingly given the October launch, this initial iteration of the Munchkins Milkshake places two pumpkin flavors together in perfect harmony. It starts with Pumpkin Cheesecake ice cream, Baskin Robbins’ Flavor of the Month for October, which combines pumpkin and cheesecake flavors with gingersnap cookie pieces and a cinnamon cream cheese flavored ribbon. That’s blended together with Dunkin’s pumpkin Munchkins, which add a nice cake-like textural element to the mix—not to mention even more sweet, pumpkin-y flavor.
Dunkin'
If the idea of pumpkin + Munchkins + milkshake sounds too good to be true, it’s because it unfortunately is, at least for most of the country. For now, it’ll only be available at 250 Chicago-area Dunkin’/Baskin Robbins locations through the end of November. If Chicagoans do their part and order enough Munchkins Milkshakes, though, you’d have to think that there will be plans to take this (or perhaps a less seasonal flavor) nationwide at some point in 2021.
Until then, the rest of us will be dreaming of Munchkins Milkshakes. At a time when we all could use a few things to look forward to, this treat definitely belongs on the list.
