Aldi Is Selling a Mint Chocolate Wine Just in Time For the Holidays
With the weather cooling off and everyone preparing to hunker down once again, the time to stock up on enough desserts and wine to make it through the winter is now. While “dessert wine” certainly exists, it gets its name because it pairs with dessert rather than strictly standing in for it.
But what if there was a way to drink a “wine” whose name sounded like something you’d order off of the dessert menu of a fancy restaurant? Well, thanks to Aldi, there is.
Behold: Petit Toffee Buttermint wine. The Aldi label describes the beverage as “a blend of fine wine with toffee buttermint and chocolate flavors and [emphasis mine] finest cream.” In essence, this is a mint chocolate wine made in a pretty richly creamy color. That probably sounds like a dream come true to a lot of people, but I’d imagine this would send a sommelier running for the hills.
The good news is that this isn’t some highfalutin’ bottle of alcohol that’ll cost you dearly to acquire. In fact, it seems that Aldi is selling it in their regular wine section for just around $8. That cheap price point probably won't allay any concerns you might have about the quality of the wine itself, but it sure is a “hey, why the heck not” price point if I’ve ever seen one.
You’ll find this beautiful creation at any Aldi that’s legally able to sell alcohol, making it the perfect potable curio to bring with you to any socially distant holiday parties you might have lined up this year. It’d also be good to have on hand any time you want both dessert and wine at the same time. So, pretty much always.
