The game may be over, but now you’ve got leftovers.

Super Bowl LIII may be all over your newsfeed, but the game itself and all the hype surrounding party snacks are finally done. What may not be done, however, is all that food you made, especially if you went all out. But just because the party's over doesn't mean you have to toss all that food. Thanksgiving leftovers get repurposed, so why not do the same with your Super Bowl snacks? It's like recycling, but tastier.

Dips

You put a lot of energy (and cheese) into making that dip, so it’s understandable that you want to save it. But first, you need to ask yourself a few questions:

  • Does it contain meat or seafood?
  • Has it been sitting out for several hours?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, go ahead and toss it. Food waste is awful, but so is giving yourself food poisoning, and dip happens to interact with a lot of hands.

If not, though (say, it’s bean dip or you kept it refrigerated), leftover dip can act as a condiment or main attraction:

  • Spread leftover dip onto toast. Avocado who?
  • Creamier dips can be repurposed into breakfast. Try French onion dip on a bagel with some lox or mix it into eggs for an extra rich omelet.
  • Substitute dip for a condiment you’d normally spread onto a sandwich or serve with fries.
  • If the dip is thick enough, just turn that into a the meat of your sandwich.
  • Some dips, like queso, can be repurposed into a pasta sauce (because who doesn’t want queso mac and cheese in their life?).
  • Nine times out of ten, if you toss your leftover dip with some tater tots (and maybe even some extra cheese and/or lightly beaten eggs), you’re well on your way to a perfectly OK and edible casserole.

Wings

  • Use boneless wings to spice up a salad.
  • Heck, use chopped up boneless wings as the base for a creamy, Buffalo twist on chicken salad.
  • Debone wings and put the meat in a sandwich.
  • Shred the meat for a plate of nachos so you can use up some of those leftover chips as well.
  • Eat them directly from the refrigerator and enjoy the beauty of a cold chicken wing.

Chili

  • Slap some chili on top of spaghetti and eat it Cincinnati-style.
  • Cook some wieners and make chili dogs.
  • Repurpose it into chili mac n’ cheese.
  • Use it as filling for tamale pie.
  • Add some extra beef and make sloppy joes.
  • If you have enough leftover, freeze some!

Produce

If those celery sticks from your wing platter are already grimy, throw them into the compost. Vegetables that still have their crunch, however, are prime leftovers that won’t max out your sodium levels.

  • Incorporate leftover tray veggies into a soup or salad.
  • Chop leftover vegetables and use them in an omelet or scramble.
  • Toss all of your leftover veggies onto a sheet pan and roast them.
