This is heavenly! I used russet potatoes, didn't peel them and used a simple manual slicer that makes slicing easy. I will make this again. Everyone loved it.
This recipe is very simple, however the flavors are delicious. I left the skins on the potatoes and used skim milk and this turned out great. The leftovers are amazing too.
This recipe is DA BOMB! My husband is a huge goat cheese fan, so of course I had to make this--but I loved it, too! I just used regular red potatoes and sliced them with an old salad shooter. The resulting slices were nice and thin, which made the recipe come out even better. Served with Honey baked ham and asparagas almondine--killer meal! Will make again without a doubt.
I made this for a casual summer get-together and it disappeared in seconds--because the kids were having second helpings! Everyone loved it.
I LOVE au gratin and scalloped potatoes and these are the BEST I have ever made! The combination of goat cheese, garlic and creaminess is perfect!
So delicious! This was well seasoned, the topping crunchy, and overall not too cheesy.
This was pretty delicious, while it didn't look as glorious as the picture. I didn't have a machine to perfectly slice the potatoes, so I was on my own, but it was still doable, though. Served with baked catfish. Step-by-step photos on my blog: http://me-myself-and-pie.blogspot.com/2009/10/crisp-crusted-catfish-potato-gratin.html
We loved this dish! I followed the recipe exactly and found it creamy and tasty. I used my mandolin to cut the potatoes into extremely thin slices. This made my preparations go very fast. The goat cheese is not overwhelming at all since it is a small amount compared to the amount of potatoes. I will definitely make this dish again, especially since it is a light recipe that doesn't taste light.
My husband specifically told me to save this recipe and make sure that I know how to make it exactly the same next time. I used the food processor to uniformly slice the potatoes. I also used about 5 cloves of garlic and baked it longer for an additional 15 min at 425. Great side dish with a Turkey Meatloaf from Real magazine.
After reading the other reviews, I added a bit more liquid to make sure that the potatoes did not dry out. They turned out perfect and succulent using the minimum cook time. I used the cuisinart to slice the potatoes to the same thickness; made this recipe very easy to make. Otherwise I would have been slicing for an hour.
