I don't write reviews often but I felt this recipe deserved better than 3 stars so here is my 2 cents. It's our family's favorite because the meat comes out very tender and the consomme gives it a really nice depth of flavor especially with the thyme. Plus the parnips and rutabaga are a nice change from the usual. I don't always make the dumplings because my group prefers mashed potatoes to soak up all that wonderful sauce but they are good as well. Definitelyl worth a try on a cold winter's night!

This turned out well, and our guests seemed to enjoy it. I have never thought to serve dumplings with pot roast, but they were good.
