I cheated and used crab and it was still good. Clearly would have been better with crab.
I’m from Maryland so I truly know how to serve blue crab meat. I’m also a personal chef so I’m doubly critical of the misuse of crab meat from Maryland. This recipe is hands down one of the best crab dip recipes I’ve ever had, including my own secret recipe. My only change is I use one whole pound of crab meat - I felt it needed more and besides who only uses a half pound of crab meat in a recipe!
