Now that September is behind us, we can officially declare that it is Scary Season. This year, though, Halloween will probably look a little bit different, with kids either trick or treating with help from projectile-launched candy or perhaps skipping out on the time-honored tradition altogether.

The good news is that if parents and kids can’t collect candy as they usually would, they can stock up on a whole bunch of Halloween-themed doughnuts thanks to the fine folks at Krispy Kreme. Starting October 5th, they’ll be offering a whole line of Scary Sweet Monster Doughnuts that prove you don’t need to go door to door to get your sugary fix this month.

Each of the three monster doughnuts takes on a familiar shape. First, there’s the Frank Monster Doughnut , which features green icing, sprinkles, and pretzel piece head bolts to complete the look of Frankenstein’s monster (as opposed to the ethically suspect scientist Victor Frankenstein). Then there’s the Drake Monster Doughnut, which doesn’t depict a Canadian rapper, but a vampire complete with purple icing, sugar eye pieces and fangs, plus a raspberry filling you’ll vant to suck out. Finally, the Wolfie Monster Doughnut is a Krispy Kreme Original Glazed dipped in chocolate icing and featuring Chocolate Kreme to give it a hairy look, rounded out by cinnamon sugar cereal ears.

As if the existence of those doughnuts wasn’t enough to get you howling with delight, perhaps the introduction of Krispy Kreme’s “Sweet-or-Treat” Saturdays will. Starting October 10th and running through Halloween on the 31st, you can get a Sweet-or-Treat dozen, which includes the aforementioned Monster Doughnuts plus a Jack-o’-Lantern Doughnut, for just $1. Even better, anyone who shows up in costume on Halloween will get a free doughnut of their choice. That’s basically like trick or treating at Krispy Kreme, which sounds better than any house in your neighborhood.

So if you’re worried about you or your kids having enough candy on hand for Halloween, maybe stop by Krispy Kreme on the 31st to cover your bases. Whatever you do, though, DO NOT put one of these doughnuts in a candy cannon.
