Will it make me sleepy?

There are a million ways to prepare eggs, and now, courtesy of Bob Marley’s son, Julian, there are a million and one. Marley’s high-end cannabis brand, JuJu Royal, makes a line of CBD products including vape cartridges, sublingual tablets, vape juice, vape pens, and olive oil. Each bottle of their extra virgin olive oil contains around 250mg of full-spectrum CBD and comes in two flavors: rosemary and basil. The company even donates 1 percent of its proceeds to Weed for Warriors, a social justice brand that supports holistic rehabilitation for veterans.

Continuing on my quest to try every possible egg preparation on the planet, I decided to fry an egg in CBD oil and see if it would make me sleepy.

I started the experiment the same way I start every breakfast: with a pan. Normally, I like to fry my eggs in butter, but I figured it wouldn’t kill me to use a little oil. The suggested serving size of two teaspoons contains around 30mg of CBD, which gave me a good starting point for my eggs. I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to cooking with the stuff, but I was delighted to find out that JuJu Royal’s CBD olive oil cooks heats up just like its non-CBD-infused cousin.

When my egg was good and done, I made sure to take a bite before dousing it with hot sauce to detect any noticable differences. Surprisingly, there were none. I could certainly taste the basil flavor, which was excellent, but I could not pick out any hints of the often citrus-y tasting CBD oil. Having a long, complicated history with citrus, I was happy to find this olive oil was untainted.

The egg tasted like… an egg. It was virtually perfect in every sense while remaining a good source of healthy cholesterol.

And the aftermath? I am shocked to say JuJu Royal’s CBD Olive Oil works. I can never fully discount the placebo effect, sure, and perhaps I’m still experiencing some jet lag from a recent trip overseas, but I highly recommend this olive oil for its relaxing qualities. A few minutes after my meal I started feeling the effects. An hour later I was feeling as happy and chill as I'm going to feel. If anything, this just shows us how much can be accomplished when you look at marijuana not as the “gateway drug” we were told would send us to an early grave (thanks, D.A.R.E.), but as a useful tool that's taking the culinary world by storm.
