Cooking Light Superfast Suppers
A family favorite with some changes. I use some hot sauce for pizza sauce and I top it with sliced, pickled jalapenos and black olives.
Great weeknight recipe! it really isn't much of a deep dish with thick crust more just made in a deep pan. I used refrigerated thin crust pizza dough and prebaked the crust for 5 minutes. I added a small can of diced green chiles and doubled the seasoning (Mrs. Dash Southwestern). The result was spicy but good. A nice dollop of sour cream smoothed it out. It really didn't need the salsa. AND, I did double the cheese which I added before baking..and use Angus ground beef from Trader Joe's.
We love this recipe. Easy and quite tasty. I like mine with a little sour cream on top. I usually make my own seasoning blend, unless I'm really short on time.
This was delicious! I used taco seasoning (2-3 tsp) since I had no Mexican seasoning and added black beans to the meat mixture as other cooks suggested. I also put one can of refried beans as a bottom layer under the meat mixture. Served with sour cream and salsa. It was good with or without those toppings. My family loved it. I will definitely make this one again.
just finished eating this. it was suuuuper easy to make and was pretty darn good. used taco seasoning and left out the onions. also used 2 cans of refried beans for a layer before the meat mixture. it is pretty heavy so used forks to eat it- no way we could pick that sucker up. topped our servings with sour cream and gobbled it up. it did make quite a bit- 3 of us didn't quite finish half of the dish.
I made this last night for dinner and had NO leftovers. I didn't have Mexican seasoning so I used packaged taco seasoning mix, about 1 tablespoon. What a great week night meal. I will make some modifications next time, just adding things I know my family will like. It's a great base and the possibilities of adding ingredients are endless. We topped it with cheddar cheese and sour cream. Delicious!
I love this recipe! I make my own deep dish dough, and add all the regular taco toppings once the pizza is out of the oven and cooled (lettuce, tomato, olives, green onion, and avocado) and served with salsa. My husband doesn't eat dairy, so I left off the cheese and didn't even miss it a bit. Hubby said it's the best pizza I've ever made, and asked for it two nights in a row!
This is a great easy meal paired with a salad- even made it twice this week! It combines 2 of our favorite weeknight treats - pizza and tacos... we modified it a bit adding 1 T. cumin and then the 2nd time by adding in 1 green pepper and a can of drained black beans to the meat mix - then topped it like we do tacos before serving - shredded lettuce, tomatoes, onion etc. Bumps up the vitamins & veggies!
