I made this tonight followed the directions up to mixing in the pasta.( I put a little of the shredded cheddar cheese aside) I added a 1/2 cup of Ragu it seemed a little dry. Instead of putting the pot in the oven I heated the oven to 350 put the mix in a baking dish and then put the rest of the cheddar cheese and the bread crumb mix on top and baked for 20 min. Was ok still kind of dry maybe next time I make this I will add a cup of Ragu and I'll reduced the bread crumb mixture and see how that works out. Thank you for the recipe
This was good. I added a large onion, a diced zucchini, and a floret of fresh broccoli. I also used a whole box of Ziti (my kids like more pasta than meat). I also left out the bread crumbs and parmesean (and the final step of broiling it). With all those modifications, I'll be making it again. :)
This was good. My men won't eat pieces of veggies, so I subbed crushed tomatoes for the stewed tomatoes, and onion powder for the onions. I'd like a little more seasoning next time, so I think I'll increase the oregano by a 1/4 tsp or maybe add in basil. I used Panko bread crumbs, and that was good. My husband liked this dish, and he's picky!
This casserole was very good. I made iit twice and both times were a big hit. It tastes even better the next day. I used italian seasoning instead of oregano.
Good but not great. Just seemed like it needed more dimension like a veggie or something. It also was a bit dry in texture.
Perfect for kiddos. I second reducing the breadcrumbs. Good recipe for using up leftover fresh tomatoes.
Made this for dinner and it was a hit with my family. Definately on my list of favorites. Will probably become a frequent meal in my house!
Yum! Super simple and very adaptable... I only had macaroni, and it worked fine, plus, I felt like I needed a veggie in there, too, so I added drained canned corn. Hubby says it is a keeper, and he is NOT a casserole person. When it came out of the oven his prior predjuces earned it a "weird", but after tasting, he says it's a keeper.
this recipe was great! my kids loved it and hubs loved it too. served alongside salad. i used italian stewed tomatoes which gave it more of an italian flavor too. i also used fusili since i didn't have any rotini on hand and it worked fine. i reduced the bread crumb mixture by about 1/2 since it seemed to call for too much. this is a good, solid recipe!
